It looked like being a boring party, but a dark haired, sexy man changed all that. Accepting his suggestion that they skip out on the assembled company, Jenny agrees, for a evening of spectacular sex. But Basil Wallace wants more than a one night stand, he plans on tying Jenny down. In more ways than one.

He put his hand on her waist and gently shifted her to the right. Towards him. “Watch out,” he said, half to her and half to the waiter balancing a tray of glasses. “Want another glass?”

She shook her head. “Not yet.” Something told her she'd best keep a clear head around Baz. “So, you and Tom?” Was he evading the question? If so, why?

“Don't give up you, do you?”

“Not often and never if my curiosity's piqued.”

He was quiet a beat or two. Had that upset him? Heck, she'd only been making small talk and she was curious. He shrugged and took a sip from his glass. “You might say as we found mutual interests.”

Oh! God! He didn't share Tom's tastes in bed did he? Just her luck! Maybe not. “You play Squash?”

“Lord, no!” He laughed. Damn sexy a laugh it was too. “No, Fencing's my sport.' That explained his upright carriage. “And the occasional game of Badminton with my sister.”

Damn! He was like Tom. Double damn!

“What's the matter?” He looked at her, his blue eyes holding hers in their gaze. “You don't like Fencers?”

He looked so put out she squeezed his hand. “It's nothing to do with Fencing.” She wasn't quite ready to say what exactly was nagging at her.

“Good,” he grinned. Impossible that a smile could leave her wet between her legs but it was happening. “I like you a lot Jenny Everly, but I'm not sure I'd give up Fencing for you.”

“What would you give up for me?”

“This party.” His eyes pretty much told her he was offering a vastly preferable alternative.

“So, you'd skive off the Baldwin's wedding anniversary?”

“You bet. If you'll come with me?”

“Where do you suggest?” No point in asking 'what for?'. They both damn well knew.

“Some nice quiet spot where our conversation is unlikely to be interrupted.”

“You have somewhere in mind?”

“I was hoping you would.”

“I do.”

He raised an eyebrow as he took the glass from her hand, putting both their glasses beside a potted fern. “What are we hanging around here for then?”

A very good question and one she wasn't about to waste time answering. They didn't have all night after all. “Come with me.” She reached out her hand and he grabbed it. Closing his strong fingers around hers and brushing her palm, very deliberately, with his thumb.

Not pausing to think about what that little, but so deliciously suggestive, touch did to her, Jenny led him through the crowd and out the open door onto the terrace. Through the kitchen would have been quicker but they'd have passed too many damn curious eyes, including her mother's.

This way meant a detour through the rose garden. She hoped the garage door was unlocked.

“Leading me up the garden path?” Baz asked as they rounded the corner of the house.

“You bet.”

“Hang on a tic.” He stopped and pulled her into him. “You fascinate me, Jenny Everly. Let's see how you kiss.”

She barely had time to catch her breath when his mouth was on hers. One arm pulled her against him and the other held her head steady. Her mouth opened, her heart sped and she kissed him back. Hard. Pressing her lips against his and molding her body into his strength. And yes, as she tilted her hips against him, there was no doubt he was definitely interested and, she realized with a smothered gasp, well endowed.

Time enough, later, to think about his physical splendor. Right now his lips and tongue filled every shimmer in her consciousness. There wasn't much else she could think about - or want to come to that that. His mouth and the hand easing down her back to settle on the arse cheek, the touch of each finger clear and confident through the fabric of her dress, pretty much blocked out everything else. Until he pulled her tight close, pressing his erection into the softness of her belly as his tongue came even deeper, caressing with his heat and need and stirring her desire to boiling point.

She let out a moan that was all but muffled by his mouth but echoed inside her head, driving her need wilder. She slid both hands inside his jacket and ran her hands up and down the smooth fabric of his shirt, and only just resisted the urge to yank it out from his trousers and feel skin.

Soon. Oh, please. Very soon.

She'd gone wild. Jenny fully recognized that, in the little fraction of her brain that still functioned, but it was a glorious wildness and she wanted to utterly loose herself in him, to feel him skin to skin, on her, in her, under her.

She whimpered as he broke the kiss.

“Why stop?”

“Because fucking you here on the brick path might get us talked about.”

“You worry about what people say?” Where had that come from?

“I'd be a pretty poor sort if I didn't care about your reputation, now wouldn't I?”

Good thing he did. She'd thrown caution to the winds and, to be honest, rather fancied fucking in the middle of the rose garden. “And that kiss was designed to preserve it?”

He shook his head as a little, sexy smile curved one side of his swollen mouth. “That kiss was intended to make sure we have the same expectations.”

“You know, if we talk about this much more, I might get cold feet.”

“I don't think any part of you will ever be cold.”

Good point, but just to be sure. “Come on.”

He took her hand, lifting it to his mouth to kiss her knuckles as he kept his eyes on hers. “Lead on.”
